"Baaaaaaka...," Taiko would finally say after listening to everything that Isu had just said. He had not moved much, with the exception of catching the necklace that had been tossed. However, his arms swiftly returned to being crossed over his chest. Throughout the duration of the elder man's speech Taiko's expression remained pretty calm. Though, his right eye did twitch when Isu turned his head away in disgust.
"Just because you knew that I could survive does not justify anything, Isu. You say that you raised me to be understanding, yet I see none coming from you," he would continue as his tone became much more serious. "After my parents died I was placed in an orphanage, and over the course of seven years I had been adopted and rejected roughly ten times. The head mistress even went as far as to call me damaged goods. You can imagine how that'd leave a kid jaded. And then...," he would pause for a moment as an amused huff slipped from his mouth.
"I met you. For the first time since my parents died I felt as if my life had some value. You weren't just a father to me. You were my hero, everything that I had hoped to become. To be honest, those were the happiest years of my life...," taking another pause his squinted eyes would open into a slight glare. "Then you disappeared. Just like with all those other families before I had been abandoned. But this time the pain of being discarded hurt so much more. Not only did you leave me, but you stole the only thing I had left to remember of my parents," Taiko would continue as he revealed the jade jewel attached to the necklace. "So what's to understand about being betrayed by your hero!? Abandoned by the man you idolized!?"
At this point, there was nothing but rage in Taiko's eyes as he glared heatedly at Isu. His arms had been to his side and his fists were balled. Realizing that he was letting his emotions get the best of him he quickly regained his composure and pocketed the gem. Turning his head away from the man he would look down at the floor. There was so much more he wanted to say right now, but they would be pointless if he were to become enraged.
"Did you honestly think so little of me as to think that I wouldn't have understood?"

"To be quite honest, no. Not until today did I think you wouldn't understand. I knew you'd hate me for leaving. That was certain. But I thought--I knew that Iton would be able to at least understand and accept an explanation for what happened. It wasn't until today, when I met Taiko, that I discovered you not only hated me... but didn't seem to understand. Maybe I'm wrong... maybe you do understand. But you don't seem to display that. All I see is a selfish boy. That is why I think little of you. Because you're being a child. Even if you idolized me-- you have to understand that more than just me and you were on the line. I had to go back or literal thousands would have been murdered in cold blood. Then the remaining would be enslaved and treated as swine. From what I'm seeing... you don't understand that~ at all!"

"You're absolutely right," Taiko would state simply after Isu had finished saying his part. The response was almost instantaneous, but was a lot calmer than his previous outburts. Bringing himself to look up at the man that he once considered to be God-send he would continue to speak. "I don't understand how you could have simply left me like that. I really can't comprehend it at all. Did at any point did you even think about telling me? Perhaps sit me down and just talk to me about it?"
For the first time Taiko was speaking from his heart. He wasn't lashing out from the anger that had built up over the years. He wasn't trying to make spiteful comments to undermine the man before him. Now he was asking the questions that had plagued him for all these years. Questions that he sought to find the answer to, but ended up only finding more sadness and pain.
"You know what would have happened? I'll tell you. I would have been proud. Hell, at that age, I probably would have seen you as some kind of warrior of justice that you'd find in a manga or something," he said almost laughing himself for saying something like that. "I wouldn't have liked it, but I would have accepted it. However, you chose to do the opposite. You chose to needlessly sacrifice me...and for what? To satisfy your own self-righteous pride? It's not even like you've tried to change either," he said as he pointed over to Kyoushi, but kept his attention steady on Isu. "You saved her life, started a family, and helped her regain her village? Yet, just like with me, you up and abandon them too. Venturing off one another one of your own self-righteous, self-sacrificing ego trips. So don't talk to me about being selfish. A father who's turned his back on his family not once, but twice doesn't have the right."

'No Isu... you can't allow this to continue.'
'Nahson... he brought up the rest of the fam? Beat this lil' brotha's ass.'
"The real question Taiko, is what kind of father doesn't think about telling his son he's about to leave?" He thought carefully back to the day he actually did leave. "However... would I have told you--you would have begged me to go. And myself, feeling guilty for leaving you, and your plead to accompany me--would have allowed you to. I knew I couldn't allow that possibility. It's better you hate me than be dead. I couldn't possibly continue to live with that on my conscience. I guess that was somewhat selfish of me."
He chucked his head to the side, irked by what he'd have to speak of next. As easy as it would be to kick Taiko's ass right now, he knew that that wouldn't solve anything. Isu couldn't run away from his problems forever. But he could discuss his faults with Kyoshi. Taiko had no place in that discussion... not for now.
"It--Taiko... as of now... the discussion about Kyoshi, Shingai and Akihiko is completely unrelated to our problems. I'm sure I taught you not to worry with the problems others present. But then again... no one listens to me anymore."

"Hard to listen to someone who isn't around."
That was all he could really say to Isu's last comment. Closing his eyes and crossing his arms Taiko took a deep breath. In his mind, this night was getting nowhere. Kakeru rising from the dead had better hopes than for them to reconcile.
"I was out of line bringing the others into this. For that, I do apologize. Kyoushi-hime can deal with that on her own," his voice was calm now. He was done wasting his emotions on this man. There was no point. "Look, I respect your decision to play Iwa's hero, but I don't approve of your methods. But we can argue about the past until the sun comes up, and I'm certain nothing will change between us. So, what do you suppose we do now?"

"Heh. The final answer to that question all depends on what dear Lady Kyoshi says." he glanced over to her quickly, but returned his eyes to Taiko. "It was my intention to gradually make amends with my disappointed family. In the end--we can't stay bitter about this forever. At least I can't. Over time, we'll be what we once were. We won't forget what has happened between the two of us... but we can use that to strengthen a bond. If we can go through this, and see one another's viewpoints and accept them for what they were--what can we not hurdle over? "
He looked down hoping Taiko would once again see where he was coming from, and accept it for that. Maybe, should things turned out how he intended for them to turn out, they could officially make amends.

Looking at Isu he let out an aggrivated sigh. This whole night was pretty much turning into a disaster. At least it was in his mind. This whole talk was just a stupid and repetitive back and forth. Nothing was accomplished here.
Nothing at all.
Looking over at Kyoushi he closed his eyes, and then glanced over at Isu. "Yeah, sure. Whatever," Taiko said as he turned his back to the man. There was no point in trying to comunicate with him anymore. The man simply didn't seem to get it. He didn't need to waste anymore emotions on this bastard.
"Uh, I'll be around tomorrow. To train Akihiko some more," he said as he waved casually to Kyoushi. "Make sure he gets a good breakfast."
And with that, he was gone.
[End.]
