"Are you okay?"
The room was dark save for the light that peaked in through the windows of the morning sun rising upon the horizon. Day was broken. Kinyōji sat upon his bed, a pile of cards between his legs, plucking another from the deck and tossing it into the pile. In the door was Sonada, the young girl who claimed that she was going to marry Kinyōji. Sweet Sonada, in the back of Kinyōji's mind, he knew that she was just confused. She didn't really know what she wanted and it annoyed him to the point where he just wanted to shout directly at her face to go elsewhere. That it wasn't what she wanted or needed, not really.
"You haven't slept, have you? You look terrible...I brought tea, if you'd like--"
"No." Kinyōji tossed his last card, a laughing man printed on the piece of cardboard face up.
"You have a long trip ahea--" She was cut silent by Kinyōji's eyes, hidden behind lenses as they usually were, the light that poured into the room refracted off the lens, a bright white glow. His lips curled into a smile. Wear it, Kinyōji, wear it well.
"I'm good, really." Inside, the cold reality was eating him alive. Chewing at his heart causing him to ache. He sat up on the side of the bed, clearing his throat. "Would you do me a favor and let Tsuya-chan I'm ready?"
"Kwaaah~" He hopped up and down on the hot sands, the distance rippled with heat. He moaned, tears streaming from his shades. In the distance were the plateaus that they were searching for. The dry desert wind swept through, sweat trickled from his brow, his lips chapped with dryness. Not a good look, not when you're getting ready to see a chick you've been crushing on for most of your adolescent life.
"Oi...do you have any water I can put on my feet...?" He moaned in Tsuya's direction, it was hard to tell whether he was actually bothered by the sand or whether he was so nervous--so fearful of what he was going to find, that he was hiding behind his sense of humor. Most probably the latter.

Some hours later...
Tsuya, who had been deep in thought, walked beside him as they trudged through the sand. She wanted to believe in Kinyoji - that he was being straight up with her in this endeavor to find Kyomei - but she couldn't help but think that Adashino's fears may be warranted. His constant negativity about Kinyoji's motives were starting to eat it's way into her good judgment. She was usually a great judge of character, probably better than most she knew, but now she was doubting her own ability to be unobjectionable toward someone who may or may not be a threat to her village.
What was she thinking?
She could trust Kinyoji. She could.
"Why the hell would I do that, you idiot!?" She growled, fatigued by the sun beating down on her brow. She grabbed Kinyoji by the shirt and began to shake him furiously. "I'm not wasting our water on your crusty fe--"
Suddenly, as they reached the top of the dune, she looked out to see a giant plateau jutting triumphantly into the clear blue desert sky.

"Would you lookie here..."
A raspy voice said from atop the plateau. Focusing in on the pair through a pair of binoculars the muscular man let out a low chuckle. A shadow of a far slimmer man approached him and tilted his head.
"What do you see, Badochō-san?" the shorter of the two men asked as he tipped his trucker hat upwards some. Quickly snatching the binoculars from the man he looked through them. Finally spotting the approaching shinobi a smile slipped across his face. "You think that they know?"
"I'unno, Huy-san. I'unno...," Badochō said as he stood to his feet and dusted himself off. Walking over towards a radio he picked up a headset and started moving through the frequencies. "But whoever they are...they deserve a warm welcome," he said as he finally tuned in on the right frequency.
"What is it?" a voice said coldly from the other side of the radio.
"We have some guests arriving soon. See to it that they feel welcome," Badochō would respond before ending the transmission.

"I take great care of my feet, thankyouverymucho." Kinyōji groaned, rolling onto his burning feet and stepping up beside her with a smirk as the plateaus fell into view. He sighed, throwing his hands up over his head, lacing his fingers on his topknot. The screech of a desert hawk circling above was almost deafening.
"I think that's one of ours." Kinyōji murmured under his breath, looking up at the circling bird, his gaze dropped onto Tsuya, a goofy smile painted across his lips. "Welp, I'm goin' in. You should stay here." He didn't wait for a response, he took off running, he was breaking the mission and winging it. It wasn't a foreign concept to Kinyōji. This wasn't recon, at all. It went from recon to a suicide mission as he made a b-line straight toward the plateau.
His cloak whisked back and forth, fluttering as the wind rushed past--
Something caught his eye, a glint that beamed by--
He tilted his head--
His cheek split in two, slit across, blood spraying into the air--
A flesh wound, but a wound nonetheless. It wasn't unexpected, of course they'd have people watching the perimeter, and with the higher ground, they could remain unseen while they attacked, and the kunai that sliced his cheek was only one of many, soon there was a small horde upon him--
Kinyōji flicked his wrist, a kunai falling into his open palm, skidding to a stop and one by one with amazing handling, he fended off the shroud of projectiles that immediately threatened him. Or so he thought, in his slowing pace, he looked over at his shoulder, a kunai poking from it.
"Hnn..."

Just as quickly as the barrage of kunai had started -- they stopped. Without rhyme or reason the attack would end, and everything would grow silent over the sea of sand.

"Feh ha ha ha--!" Badochō's bellowing laugh erupted from the top of the plataeu as he watched Kinyōji's little performance. Whoever this little punk was he had balls. It wasn't often that you found people who treaded along the path of bravery and stupidity. "You catch that Huy? Bastard is trying to charge us," he said laughingly as he watched on with his binoculars.
"I see that he's still alive," the smaller of the two men said as he readjusted the hat on his head. His eyes would then shift from the spec that would be Kinyōji to the sand in front of the plataeu. Squinting even more than he already was he could see something moving through the sand. An amused huff slipped from his mouth as he looked back at Badochō. "Looks like Nezu is going in."

Roughly ten feet in front of Kinyōji the sand would beging to rise up. Sliding upon itself the sand would continue to grow and slowly reveal a human as he arose from the sand. Shaking himself of the remainder of the sand the orange haired man adjusted his sunglasses, and looked at Kinyōji. "Heh heh...," he chuckled as he reached for the bottle of sake that was strapped to his waist and pulled it to his lips. Pulling out the plug he took a quick gulp and replaced the cork before allowing it to fall back into its place. "Dem some nice shades you go dere," Nezu would say as a devious grin slid across his face. "Mind if I take 'em when you're dead?"

Meanwhile...
Perfect.
As soon as the barrage of prickly points came in her direction, Tsuya dodged and headed off in an alpha pattern away from Kinyoji, back down and around an adjacent dune, attempting to stay out of their attackers' sights. But before she could formulate a pattern for their counter attack, she noticed Kinyoji's big dumb head running gung ho at the epicenter of the barrage.
Then, after it stopped, she looked over to see Senor Idiota standing in front of a mountain of a man. She carefully gauged the situation. If Kinyoji had stood even the slightest chance against Gaara, then there was no doubt he could beat this guy. Then again, maybe it was a fluke.
= = = = =
Out of nowhere, three glass senbon hurled toward the man before Kinyoji would even be able to answer him. One at his feet, the other at his gut, and last at his massive dome of a head.
"HEY. FATBOY." Tsuya appeared from the sand, standing on a small glass pillar. "Pick on someone your own size. Unless you want to pick on someone your own smell -- you can pick on A DEAD CAMEL!"
Tsuya scooped two more handfuls of sand up and let it trickle through her fingers. The streams of sand formed 6 inch long senbon between each finger.

He slid to a stop, his hands slipped in and out of seals, his eyes caught the glints of light that extended across the desert and struck out at the large man that stood before him. Like streaks of bright white laserbeams from the way the glass was hit by the sun above, this was promptly followed by Tsuya making quips, it wasn't unlike her, she did so to get a rise out of her opponent. Kinyōji on the other hand? Despite being the funny guy, he didn't really find time to make funnies in the middle of battle, he was determined, it was how he was, and it was mostly out of fear of dying, much like most things he did when it came to life and death situations and decisions.
"Tch, couldn't have expected her to listen to me. Of course not. Tsuya? Actually stay out of a fight because I told her so?" He muttered under his breath, gritting his teeth, he'd take this time with Tsuya's attack and double it up. No use in allowing a opportunity for teamwork to slip by--
He jumped back, putting more distance between himself and the buffoon that presented himself--
His palm sunk into the sand with a thrust--
His kimono's sleeve swayed back and forth--
There was a explosion of smoke, the sands stirred around them, and from the cloud emerged Kinyōji and a small elephant that stood at his side, rising no higher than his hip. Over it's left eye was a eyepatch of some sort, while strapped to it's side was some sort of gourd. It was small, but it definitely was a adult elephant, one could tell by how the skin on it's legs wrinkled and how big it's trunk was, not so much the length as the thickness of the base.
With a swing of it's trunk, it sucked water from the gourd on it's side--
It's trunk lanced outward--
水遁•象水砲!! (Suiton: Zōsuihō | Water Release: Elephant Water Cannon)
A orb of compacted water shot from it's trunk like a cannonball from a cannon, closing the short gap between them--
Kinyōji was already on the move, he couldn't waste too much time with fights, he motioned to Tsuya as he sped off after his summoning, hoping the massive man would be too preoccupied to notice him slipping by.

A glistening from the distance quickly caught Nezu's attention. Sucking his teeth he quickly jumped back as the glass senbon pierced intot he sand infront of him. Looking in the direction that the weapons came from he spotted a female standing on a pillar of glass. Tilting his head a little at her words he sniffed his shirt and blinked. "I took a bath yesterday...," he mumbled to himself as he watched the woman create even more of those glass weapons.
Is that a... his thought process was cut short as a massive explosion of sand erupted from Kinyōji's direction. Turning his attention back towards the man. To his surprise there was now an elephant standing next to the man, and from the looks of it the elephant had years of battle experience. "Woooow...," said in awe as he looked the beast over. Though the mesmerization would only last for a few seconds as he saw the elephant moving its trunk to a large gourd on its side. Narrowing his eyes on the elephant's motions he pulled out his bottle and chugged down the rest of its contents. What came next happened in an instant.
A large orb of water was launched.
A symbol appeared on the bottle.
As the orb was about to collide with Nezu he extended the bottle.
In seconds the orb was sucked into the bottle.
Quickly placing a cork on the top of sake bottle Nezu's eyes shifted towards the direction that Kinyōji was running. "Not so fast," he said as he aimed the bottle at him and pulled off the cork. At that moment the water orb that had just been fired at him was now being launched directly at Kinyōji.

Tsuya took off in Kinyoji's direction as the orb got sucked in, but soon realized she was in the way of the same giant blob heading back at them. Positioning herself between Kinyoji and the man, she crouched to the ground and molded chakra into the sand. Then, just before it collided with them, a 6 foot thick wall of glass appeared from the sand to block the orb, and right before the collision, she kicked it into third gear and caught up with Kinyouji.

Once he neared the tall wall, he skidded to a stop, clapping his hands together once more. He cycled through a number of hand seals, slamming his hands down into the loose sands beneath his heels--
"KUCHIYOSE NO JUTSU--!!"
In a explosion of smoke, sand flew out in all directions, Kinyōji promptly turned and reached out for Tsuya, his brow furrowed beneath his shades. "C'mon--!!" He called out, and only a few moments later, a second explosion of smoke erupted from the back of the elephant, followed by five more, leaving a tall stack of elephants that reached the top of the plateau--
Meanwhile, the elephant that Kinyōji left behind charged forward at the bottle-carrying butthole who managed to redirected it's compacted blast of water. "OI! YOU SHOULD WORRY ABOUT THE THREAT IN FRONT OF YOU BEFORE THE ONE THAT'S FLEEING--!!" The elephant roared as it stampeded forward with intent on trampling Nezu despite it's small stature.
"Well, a elephant stack...this is pretty neat." She commented, looking down over the edge of the elephant they were on, noticing how high they were. Kinyōji, who was still grasping her wrist tight, started running forward--
"C'mon, we'll have to climb the rest of the way--"
She snatched her wrist away, grumbling and following after him as he hopped from the head of the elephant, using chakra to adhere to the vertical surface, dashing straight upward. It wouldn't be long before they reached the ledge.
