"This should not be this hard..."
The annoyed voice of Marutake muttered to himself in his frustration. Yet again he had gone out in search of his teammate and his sensei, and it seemed that it would be a repeat of last time. Perhaps this time he'd stumble across a talking cat or something. That could possibly salvage this day. Letting out a deep sigh the red haired Genin walked out of the park and headed towards to market district.
"I know this village is large but...," he said to himself as he stuffed his hands into his pockets and moved into the crowd. His eyes shifting from people to people, and would occasionally light up when he thought he saw someone that resembled his teammate or sensei. The excitement would turn into anger and annoyance with each growing second. "This is ridic--!!" before he could finish his sentence Marutake felt something or someone bash against his shoulder. Swiftly turning on his heels a fire lit up in his eyes. "Watch where you're goin' will -- oh shit...," he said as the rage subsided and was replaced with utter shock. "It's...you."

With his back hunched, and his jacket flipped over his shoulder, Oni takes the time to go the long way home, rather than a short cut like the days before. Today was a grand day. The sun was shining, the villagers were busy and cheerful. Practice went along steadily, and his wounds weren't major. Sure, there were patches of red on his bandages wrapped along his legs, but when weren't they stained?
Besides the fact of training heavily, Oni was out an about for another reason. He was on a top secret mission. One filled with danger and excitement. Well, not really. Oni was pretty much searching for a talking dog he spotted a few days ago, chatting with random villagers and skipping through the streets like a normal person. Wouldn't that just be awesome to meet a talking dog? Oni sure thought so, and that's what caused him to daydream for a split second and bump into a red headed youth without paying attention.
"Watch where you're goin' will -- oh shit... it's...you."
Oni had nearly stumbled backwards onto the ground, but he managed to catch his balance in a crouch, ducking his head from the sound of Marutake's tone. He was sure he was gonna get a fist to the head, so he might as well be prepared. What wasn't suspected was, well, Marutake knowing who he was, aparently.
Peeking one eye open slowly, Oni looked up, trailing his eyes from the fiery genin's shoes, up to his face. There was no doubt about it. He had never seen this kid in his life, but he could be wrong. He wasn't all that good with names or faces. "S... sorry 'bout that... I'll be more careful next time..." Oni stood up straight after picking his leather jacket up from the ground. It had flown out of his hand when he bumped into Marutake, and it was now slipped on with style and grace.
"Uhh... I should be going... see ya'..." It wasn't that he was trying to be rude or anything, but he had no idea who this kid was, and well, the fact that he knew him was a little off, but hey, he's seen a talking dog. Nonetheless, his pace was below casual at best, moving slow enough for anyone to catch him if they really wanted to. He wasn't much for running away. It would have looked rude.

He wouldn't need to be caught, for as his absent mind would come to notice, he was on a collision course with someone much larger than Marutake. The sound of the platelets of his armor shifting could be heard, he reached out, placing his hand to Oni's forehead and tilting the boy's head back. "You're a Genin." His voice was like a growling tiger's without trying, rasp but not too rasp, as if he had a bunch of nails in his throat. He looked hardy, like he liked to use his hands, and the swords he carried were more than intimidating if his carved face and chiseled musculature didn't do the trick.
He kept one eye close, his eye moved from Oni, his digits that were permanently tinted with the blood of men slipped from the boy's hair, looking past him, his gaze landing upon Marutake, the boy who he originally sought out. The long piece of grass in his mouth dangled from his rough lips, he pinched at his stubbly chin, scratching softly. Naturally, the boys would wonder about why such a peculiar and scary man would come up and do such weird things.
"Neither of you are on a mission, that means you're with me. You have fifteen minutes to go home and pack what you need and meet me at 0900." Yokimaru muttered, turning away, the scraping and clanking of his armor was all that could be heard as he made his way up the street slowly.

You can't be serious.
Nah.
This was some sort of daydream or something. Any minute now he'd awaken abruptly by the manager of the dango shop nearby, yelling at him about loitering.
Marutake blinked several times as he stared at the black haired boy before him. He was stunned. After all this time spent searching for this kid he just happens to run into him? Nah. This was a joke or something. It had to be a joke. It had better be a joke.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa--!" the red haired genin said franticly as Oni started to walk away. So this wasn't a joke, or a dream, or any mix of the two. "Wait up--! I've been looking for...," he said as he quickly went in pursuit of the kid. His chase didn't last long as Oni had seemingly run into another person. Marutake's jaw dropped when he noticed who had stopped him. "You're...," he started but before he could finish any further than that Yokimaru issued their orders.
Their first mission?
Already?
They had barely met.
Though this was not the time to be questioning these orders. "Hai," Marutake said as he bowed his head while Yokimaru began to walk away. Patting Oni on the shoulder he offered him a grin. "You better hurry up. Sensei doesn't look like the laid back type," he said as he quickly rushed home to gather his things.
