Shounin Gai, a city famous for being a prime location of trade of any kind, sat in the midst of the desert of Kaze no Kuni. In such a place as Shounin Gai a begger could walk in poor and in the same day leave as rich as a daimyō. It was a place of great fortunes and wealth, but also carried with it a threat of corruption and death. The streets were always busy with trade, the air carrying the voices of the venders as their tried to coax people into buying thier products. Even in the middle of the night this village was full of energy and life. However...it was in the night that the village became the most dangerous.
Positioned on a dune not too far from the village were two cloaked figures. The taller of the two was viewing the village through a pair of binoculars, zooming in on certain vendors that were still operating. Lowering the binoculars the cloaked man looked over at his partner before placing the binoculars back in their holder.
"Let's move."
___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
...Hours Earlier... ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
Standing in front of the massive administrative building in Sunagakure no Sato was Tobunagi Kon, Jōnin and former monk of the Wind Temple. Reaching into the right pocket of his pants he extracted his wallet. A sigh of defeat escaped him as he looked into the thinning contents of his funds. Having decided to take some time off Kon soon found it impossible to relax as he could barely afford to buy food now. Which meant only one things for him -- missions.
Which leads back to this point.
Placing the wallet back into his pocket Kon leaned back against the building. He had just finished signing up for a mission, but was told that he would need to wait while they sent word to his new partner. While he wasn't overly thrilled by the idea Kon didn't exactly hate the idea either. Teammates meant higher chances of success, and in this case a better chance of getting a paycheck.

Earlier That Day
______________________ "Aw, man..."
A sigh escaped her as she looked over the paper in her hands. A mission. Anzu had accepted C-ranked mission. Not exactly thrilled about having to take one, or risk starvation from lack of food in the apartment, she folded the paper and stuffed it in her right pocket. Damn teammates of hers. Eating like freakin' locusts and wiping out the food and then only taking one or two low-paying missions. Lazy bums.
Kicking the back heel of her shoes, wheels popped out of the bottom as Anzu stepped out onto the road and began to glide down it. A small smile finally lit up her face as she felt the breeze on her face and in her hair. Just what she needed to relax until she waited for someone else to take the mission. After all, they wanted two or more people on this mission for whatever reason. She wasn't too thrilled, but it didn't bother her that much. More chances to actually catch the dude.
A black cloak and mask suddenly appearing in front of her made her lose her train of thought as she skidded to a stop just an inch away from taking them out. She sighed out of relief and looked to the figure, annoyed.
"Fuck... I hate it when you do that, Kōyu." She crossed her arms and glared up at the fox mask. "You almost took us both out."
"It's lucky you have good breaks, then." He smirked behind the mask in half-amusement before it was lost again. "Listen, another person has accepted the mission. So, you got a partner. Hustle back to the administrative ASAP." And with that, he was gone. Figures...
Business as usual.________________________
Present ________________________ Anzu stood next to her assigned partner, overlooking the village from a distance through the cloak's coverage. Shounin Gai certainly seemed like the perfect place for a con artist to pull off some deals to unsuspecting civilians and rich people. Ugh. Rich people. All a bunch of stuck-up spoiled bastards to Anzu. Taking them down from their high horses was something to be applauded. To bad they had to take the guy doing it down.
Oh, well.
The girl glanced over to her partner as he placed the binoculars back, and nodded to his order. He was the higher ranking shinobi with the most experience, he would be the leader this time around. That was one thing she didn't mind at all; she hated being the one in charge. Far too much responsibility, though she would still speak her mind. That was just her personality.
"We should probably learn as much as we can before we attempt to bring him down. Do you think the locals would know anything?"[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Glancing down at Anzu for a moment after she asked her question Kon simply shrugged. He was more than sure that the majority of the locals in Shounin Gai knew about their target. It wasn't a town where secrets could be held for long. The only problem was actually getting that information. There was a code of silence when it came to dealing with people such as them. A code that was respected by anyone that wished to keep their lives.
"They probably do. Though it might take a little 'persuasion' to get the information that we want," he said as he took a few steps forward and started to slide down the dune. As he did so he brought his fingers to his lips and let out a sharp whistle. The shadow of a bird soared over the two Sunagakure shinobi and headed towards the village. "I'll have Tomoe1 scout ahead. She'll signal us if she finds anything of interest," he explained as he continued to make his way towards the village.
It didn't take long for them to make it into the village, a few minutes at best. Pushing the hood of his cloak behind him Kon shook his head as he looked at all the stores and vendors still open. Countless people were walking up and down the streets as they tried to bargain with the merchants. For someone who wasn't used to such activity this would almost be overwhelming.
"We should find an inn first," he said as he took a moment to just look over the place.
Tomoe -- Kon's nintaka.

Persuasion. ’Sweeeet,’ the girl mused with a small smirk. The action-y parts of a mission always thrilled her. Especially the ninja version of persuasion. Oooh, this was gonna be fun. :3 She ran a few scenarios over in her mind for a moment while listening to Kon explain his plan with Tomoe and nodded gently in response, sliding down the dune and heading to the village.
The village was certainly busy; the vendors trying to make a quick buck off of tourists and the connoisseur trying to bargain hunt. Anzu glanced around and observed the different people going about their business while trying to identify any suspicious behavior. Well, that was like picking a needle from a freakin’ haystack. Most of the customers looked shifty, let alone the vendors. One boy was trying to pickpocket from a wealthy looking tourist, but failing miserably until he decided to give up and walk away. What are they teaching kids nowadays?
Once again the girl Anzu nodded with a “Mm” in agreement to finding and inn, though one was kinda hard to spot with all these people. Hopefully, it wouldn’t be too crowded in the inn. She was kinda thankful for the people, though. They didn’t stick out at all, compared to if the streets were empty.
“You know any good places?” She asked, glancing up to the taller man. She hadn’t been here before in her life, but maybe he had been.
