TAKI NO KUNI [firelights]
The sun's light was cut through by the pagoda that shot out into the sky. The scene was serene. A cool air passed over the landscape, the song of a bird hummed dimly underneath it all. The small town that surrounded the pagoda in question was all of silent, the civilians about their homes, the day just beginning. The silence drew more intense, and the quite hum of chirping birds came to a stop. The breeze that passed through the town seemed to freeze, even if only for a fraction of a second. It had begun.

A plume of smoke shot up into the sky, the debris blocking out the awe-inspiring light cast by the golden sun. The silence was wiped out by the sounds of screams.
From the smokey veil over the sky dropped three figures, landing upon a large pillar which rose from an adjacent building. Two dressed in white cloaks, the third wore a black garb, a white coat fastened to his shoulder.
"Seems she's a little more feisty than you thought, Hiroki-sempai~" the blond of the trio smiled, scratching the rear of his mop of hair. Green eyes flickered from side to side, examining the large smoke plume which blocked out the sky.
Pesuto Nōen Unknown Division Twelve Captain
The female of the group, also the shortest, crossed her arms over her white robe, hard eyes glaring up at the bottom remaining half of the pagoda. She didn't reply, but her mere expression made her stand on the situation clear. 'Shut up, Nōen.'
Anayama Hiroki Twenty-six Division Two Captain
"Well, this was unexpected--" the black-haired male called out, scratching his stubbly beard. His bright eyes were, unlike his colleagues, peering down onto the city, where he could see a swarm of people gathering in various points all along the organized streets. Chaos was already out of his cage and running throughout the streets. "So much for a peaceful mission..."
Ozuki Hiiro Thirty-one Division Twelve Assistant Captain
"We just want you to stop!" Nōen said nervously through a smile accented by a droplet of sweat against his temple. "SH- SHINSENGUMI has ordered me to ask you to stop... I'm just doing my job."
"For a captain of the "legendary" SHINSENGUMI organization... you sure have no resolve." a woman barked back. Her face was the epitome of mean. Her eyes were sneering, threatening--even able to strike fear. A tightly bound white bandage assemblage matted her black hair down to her forehead and down her nose.
Omizuji Twenty-five Takamagahara Underboss
"What my colleague fails to say--" Hiroki began, cutting off the stuttering Nōen with a tone of arrogance. "Is that if you don't cease and desist your crimes against Taki no Kuni, Division Twelve and Division Two will be forced to take action."
"Action you say?" a hint of sarcasm walked alongside her words. "And what exactly would this 'action' be?"
"Use your brain, dumb bitch."
"Uh~" Hiiro moaned, smiling a wide smile and jumping in front of Hiroki in a low bow of apology "Pl--please forgive Nibantai's... disrespectful words."
"Yeah!" Nōen shouted out, smiling a similar smile to that of Hiiro's. "Please forgive her!"
"I didn't know Division Twelve was filled with such pansies..."
The shenanigans would come to end very abruptly. The eyes of the three SHINSENGUMI officials cut towards Omizuji, the woman charging, in her one hand a large zanbatō. Her grunt towered over any other sound that might have arisen at the time--and with the acknowledgment of her hand raising above her head, the blade held tightly therein, there was a realization among the three of them that this battle wouldn't turn out to be 'peaceful' at all.
The blade crashed down onto the ground where Hiroki previously stood, an eruption of energy shooting out of the blade, blasting a hole diagonally down the pagoda and sending a large cloud of smoke rising up into the air.
"So, what's the plan, Captain Nōen?" Hiiro asked, his voice shaking as he seemed to wait for impact. "I don't know how much longer we can stay here without being overwhelmed."
"We can't just leave--" Captain Hiroki stated simply, peeking over her shoulder at Hiiro and shaking her head. "That would look back on the organization's part, as well as out respective divisions."
"Can we call for back up?" Nōen asked, his eyes wide with tension and fear.
"Are you asking?" Hiroki returned his question with her own, but her question came showing its teeth, as to say 'What do you think, idiot?'
"We could... but we'd have to hold off whatever it coming our way for a little while..."
"Well, we're Jōnin-level shinobi!" Nōen proclaimed, pumping a fist up into the air. "We can do it!"
A cry shouted above Nōen's feeble pep talk. A savage cry. A cry so savage that human would not be something to class it under. It towered over all other sounds, seeming to make the very ground shake. Emerging from the pagoda, seeming to spawn off the foundation of it like a tumorous growth, was a large beast, eight small red dots posing as eyes and imposing fear unto all. It roared again.
MONSTER Takamagahara
"Oh yeah--" Hiroki said without a hint of emotion in her voice. "This'll be a piece of cake."
