When entering Kumogakure, shinobi are required to obtain a pass from the Hidden Section at the Outer Gate. These passes let the Hidden Section member on the Inner Gate know what kind of actions to take with the person in question. The passes vary in color. The colors signify different actions.
Passes! Kon no Aikagi The blue pass is the pass one should desire to receive. When one receives this pass, they are escorted through the mile distance from the Outer to the Inner Gate by a member of the Kumogakure Hidden Section. When one turns this pass into the Inner Gate, they are allowed into Kumogakure without Hidden Section members to follow them. When allowed into Kumogakure with the blue pass means one can apply for citizenship.
Aoi no Aikagi The green pass is the pass given to those with moderate suspicion surrounding them. While they are not classified as enemies to the village, they are not welcomed into Kumogakure. They travel through the mile between the two gates alone. However, members of the Hidden Section follow them by means of a cloud. When they get into the Inner Gate, they are escorted into Kumogakure wherever they plan to go. If one performs a crime under this pass, they are immediately executed.
Aka no Aikagi The red pass is a pass given to those who are established to have tension with the village. They are escorted into Kumogakure and from the Inner Gates immediately escorted to the Raikage's Castle to discuss their pass situation.
Shinku no Aikagi One who receives this pass is attacked by the Hidden Section. When this pass is issued and one makes it past the gates, they must make it through the booby-trapped mile before they actually get anywhere. By which time, the code shall be sent over the radio alerting the Hidden Section at the Inner Gate of the village.
Defenses! All members of the Hidden Section that utilize the gate are taught to use Hikariton. The Outer and Inner Gates are lined with Kumogakure's traditional lanterns. Set into all of them is the kanji [守]. The members of the Hidden Section use them as they please, however only when attempting to fight an intruder. The gate itself is made of different kinds of metals. It is resistant to bladed weapons, and strong enough to withstand some stronger jutsu.
