Sitting upon his throne was the strongest man within the confines of Kirigakure no Sato. There sat the Mizukage, a man known to rule with a fist of iron. His heart was as cold as eyes, and his judgements were absolute. He was a tyrant, pure and simple. While his rule was merciless he was still a fair man. However, above all he was a man of driven by his ambitions.
And today was a day of business.
Sitting in his thrown, his elbow propped up on the arm of the thrown, and his head rested on his fist. His piercing gold eyes stared dully at the ground before him where his assistant was kneeling. "What is it, Michiyo?" his voice was stern, and his expression remained hidden behind his mask.
"The Shinobigatana, Hanzatsu, has arrived...," she said as she kept her head facing the tiled floor. "What will you have me do, Yondaime-sama?"
"Send him in."
It was all he would say to her before she would rise to her feet, and open up the "office" door. Stepping out she would approach the Shinobigatana and bow her head to him.
"Greetings. The Mizukage will see you now."

”Long time no see Michi…”
Placing a hand on her chin, he would lift her eyes to meet his. A smirk played upon his lips as he would make eye contact with the young woman, or older woman, whatever…she was cute. But Hanz never made a pass at her. He figured that Shou was smashing it down on his free time when they weren’t taking over the world and doing the nasty things that earned them the name “Aka Kiri”. So…he would simply flirt and keep it moving. Though she tried to hide it, he saw her cheeks pulling at the corners of her mouth as she tried her damndest not to smile. He would let it go as he moved passed her through the doors.
Two sides to every story.
The smirk, the wit, and the condescending overtones that his gaze held…all of it would be absent. Hanz did not fear the man before him. Hanz feared no man. However, he held the utmost respect for this man. You see when Hanz had no place to go, for whatever reason, this man trusted him and put him in his ranks. Hanz rose quickly, and felt that even though Shou didn’t “like him” or show any respect it all, it was still there. Not for Hanzatsu the person, but for the Jounin and his abilities. That was enough for him to show him the respect to Shou as a leader. His crimson eyes would fall to the floor as he took a knee in front of the man that had summoned him. Usually when Hanz was needed, someone had fucked up and the problem had become elevated. You don’t use 50 cal machine guns to hunt quails.
”Hai, Shou-sama.”
Simple and to the point. There was no need for small talk, this was business.

A moment of silence would pass in the large room as Shou looked down on the youth critically. His eyes narrowed on the kneeling Hanz as he thought over what he was just about to reveal to the boy. This was a mission that was to be held with the highest regards, and not something that he'd issue to any shinobi. For this mission he'd need his finest. And in this case, that meant the Shinobigatana. While being the youngest and least experienced of the seven Hanz was without question loyal. Which was exactly what was needed at this time.
"Rise," the voice of the Mizukage would speak, shattering through the silence that had enveloped the room. Impassive eyes would continue to peer down on Hanz as he began to explain the mission. "Kirigakure no Sato, much like the country of Mizu no Kuni, has continually been plagued by infighting, terrorism, and death. For the past thirteen years it has been my duty to correct this...affliction," he would speak as his positioning remained unmoving. "Though the village is better there are still vermin creeping around that need to be exterminated. This is where you come in."
Lifting up his free hand he would snap his fingers, and within a seconds time Michiyo would appear next to him holding an manilla folder. Glancing up at her for a moment he would give her a motion of his head to speak. A soft, nervous "Hai" was said with a nod of her head before she directed her attention back to Hanz. She wanted to offer him a smile, but with she was not willing to jeopardize her position. So after taking a deep breath she would speak.
"Since longer than anyone can remember fighting has always been a problem in the village," her voice was stern and her expression was serious. This was nothing like her timid demeanor that she often displayed. "There have been countless murders due to these altercations. This is the reason that the Kenpei1 was established," she explained as he shifted through some papers. "While this has made the village a much safer environment the fighting still consists. However, instead of fighting in the streets they have become more organized with it. Establishing their own little fight club, so to speak. This has yet again led to several deaths and intensive injuries to our shinobi. So--"
"Your mission is to investigate this underground fighting ring," Shou would interject before Michiyo could go on further. "Since the Keiji2 and Keikai3 divisions can't get sufficiant information I'm leaving the task up to you. I should hope this won't be too hard for one of my ANBU."
"Do you have any questions?" Michiyo would ask.
1Kenpei - Kirigakure's police force. 2Keiji - Detective division of the police. Reponsible for investigating criminal activity in the village. 3Keikai - Watch division of the police. Responsible for reporting disturbances to Shou.

Rising to his feet, Hanz adjusted the sword on his hip. Taking a relaxed stance, his hands slipped into his pockets as the briefing began. Hanz was familiar with the policy. After all, he was one of its enforcers. It was how he earned his way to where he was. Taking a deep breath, he sniffled for a second before exhaling. As Michiyo stepped forward and went deeper into detail, Hanz was surprised that they were able to remain hidden so well. Hell, he had encountered a few of their goons and wasn’t even looking for them. As the mission was given to him, Hanz didn’t really have any questions. People failed to do their jobs and now he was in the building.
”Suspects? Leads?”
Though he had an idea of where to start, any information that she could provide would be much appreciated. He knew that he would simply need to hang around Shikome long enough before the world would be opened up to him. In fact, she would be his “in”. He didn’t even have to let her know exactly what the mission was. This was going to be cake.
”Time?”
Of course he would need to know how long he had. He couldn’t formulate a good plan without knowing how long he had to execute.

Meanwhile...
The familiar quiet tapping of dangerously high boots clip-clopped into the entrance way of the Mizukage's mansion. It was rare sight to see the kage's wife and children outside of their home, but since the twins had began their personal training, they had been taken to the training ground more often, and Tsukuyomi insisted on having a personal hand in the refinement of their ninja skills. And on this day, they had finally gotten their official shinobi ID's. It had been a few days after the common children had graduated and gotten their identification cards, but Tsukuyomi wanted to be able to take them herself. She believed in being involved.
A female ANBU had accompanied them, and after they made it to the corridor which held Shou's throne room, she stopped buy the wall next to the door, listening to what sounded like Michiyo's voice speaking to someone. She nodded to the ANBU who in turn nodded back and took the kids to their rooms. Koushi and Keishi had learned by now not to question anything their mother did, and in solemn silence, followed the woman.
Tsukuyomi stood by the wall and placed her hand on the part of the wall nearest the door.

Inside...
Michiyo's face stayed in it's stern, serious state. She handed him the case file. "This is all the information you have to work with from previous investigations of this group. As a quick summary, I will tell you the basics." She folded her hands behind her. "They are led by a mysterious figure only known as The Boss. He has a special group of seriously strong, possibly genetically engineered shinobi that he surrounds himself with. This is just speculation, however. We have no idea if they are truly "tampered with" shinobi. Also, you must have a special invitation to even attend these events or you must enter with someone with an invitation. This may be the most difficult part of infiltration because mention of the Underground to any of it's members will put you in instant scrutiny."
= = =
Tsukuyomi continued to listen. So he had called in the big guns. That meant Shou was cornered, and he wasn't playing nice anymore. If anything, the game against this Underground killing off some and recruiting others was about to be stepped up a notch. She got closer to the door.
= = =
"So, you must:
1] Infiltrate the Underground undetected. 2] Collect information on it's fighters. 3] Collect information on it's leaders/recruiters. 4] Find out the identity of this "Boss" character."
Michiyo took a moment to clear her throat and then continued.
"Your time limit is relative. When you've found this information, your mission is complete. Report to me at least once a week at the Takayama Saizou. You are not to report directly here again. The former shinobi sent in to gather information have given us these bits and pieces of the investigation, but unfortunately, shortly after each one reported back, they went missing and/or ended up dead."
And that was all the warning she gave.
"You are dismissed."
= = =
Tsukuyomi, hearing the last of the conversation knew that Shou would be in no mood to see her after this briefing, so she continued at her steady pace down the hall to her children before whomever Shou was speaking with came from the throne room.

Hanz listened intently. However, it didn’t really do him any good. He wondered how people got paid to do jobs that they were no good at. He had nothing. In fact, he probably had more of an in than any of the “detectives” who had previously been on the case. The only thing that really helped him was the briefing of exactly what was needed…but even that was simply a repeat of what was said earlier. Hanz would need to formulate a plan. Shikome was apparently one of the better fighters since they were going through so much trouble to get her back. He knew she’d be instrumental…but how? Could he play upon her emotions? Though shy…she was still a strong person seeing as how she was raising her brother on her own.
Breaking his train of thought, he looked at her as she dismissed him. Tilting his head, he gave her a confused look. She didn’t have the authority to tell him when to come and when to go. But that wasn’t it. He needed something else.
”I have one request.”
For whatever reason, a lump went into his throat but it was quickly tossed out as he cleared it. Swallowing, he spoke up again.
”Actually two. First…that I begin in the morning, so that I can put my daughter to bed. And 2…I request my daughter be placed into protective custody while I’m on assignment.”
The time off was to spend some time with Mako. The protective custody was so that he didn’t have to worry about her while he was risking his life…and considering the targets, risking hers as well. He didn’t feel it was much of a request, but he did know that Shou was urgent and would want this started right away. However, he himself had a family, and maybe he would understand? Hanz was reaching with that one…he even chuckled mentally. Though it was definitely within reason, Shou-sama wasn’t exactly famous for being a reasonable man.

Expecting Hanz to have left immediately after Michiyo had dismissed him Shou closed his eyes. A few thoughts would pass through his mind before Hanz's voice would be heard yet again. A look of annoyance would go unseen from behind his mask. Narrowing his eyes down on the young Shinobigatana he simply listened as he spoke.
"So be it," was all he would say on the matter. He would then look up at Michiyo, who nodded accordingly. Quickly making her way down from the "throne" she would take care of the accomodations needed for Hanz's child. "If you have no other requests...," Shou began as his piercing eyes locked onto Hanz once more. "You're dismissed."

Hanz wouldn't request anything else from the man that he looked up to. While most people feared the look that he received from Shou, for whatever reason...he didn't He took it as a warning that his patience was thin, but if he had something else in mind, he would have said it. For all of the trouble that Hanz caused, if Shou didn't need him, he wouldn't be around anymore. A sense of job security. It could have been a false sense of security, seeing as how Shou was a tyrant, but he clung to that in his dealings.
With his request granted, Hanz lowered his head and brought a fist to his chest, letting out a single "Thump". Looking up at Michiyo, he took a step toward her and took the file form her. Having been briefed and dismissed, and his requests granted, there was no reason for him to be here anymore. With the meeting obviously completed, he spun on his heels and his body would turn to mist before there very eyes. It would slowly fall to the ground as Hanz was no longer within the room.
