A petite figure dropped down from the heights of a tree down to the forest floor below. The chimes of her beads silenced when she straightened from her croched position and a soft sigh passed her lips as she placed a hand on her hip. Wary but determined eyes gazed around in search of a little rumor. Being from Kiri, an Island country, had only a selected few plants and were different from the mainland. She was told that there was a plant to help treat the more deadly sicknesses faster and was sent to see if it were true with the few clues given.
Dusk had settled in the area leaving the Forest cascaded in creapy shadows. A shiver ran down Maiha's spine as a crow cawed from the distance. 'You'd think they would have sent me sooner...' she thought irritatedly as she shook her head. She never really favored the dark and not only that, it wouldn't make her search much easier. With another sigh she walked slowly through the dense brush being sure not to miss any particular plant.

((Don't mind if I join in, do yeh?))
Kuminaro Tai - Jounin/ANBU
Kuminaro Tai laid on the forest floor, exhausted. He had been outside all day long training his Taijutsu and speed to try and make a new jutsu. At the rate that he was going, he wasn't going to get any faster or stronger. The Jounin sat up and adjusted his hitai-ate; he had left his mask in his backpack, which was sitting by a nearby tree.
"Geh, I'm not getting anywhere at all!" the Jounin yelled, somewhat annoyed. He picked up the kunai that he was using to mark the spot that he was at last. Tai looked up and noticed that he was at around the middle of the tree. He then backed away from the tree and began focusing his chakra to his feet before running up the tree.
'I've got it this time!' Tai excitedly thought as he ran up the tree. He slipped when he was a little over his last mark and the Jounin quickly marked the spot before quickly beginning to kick the sides of the tree.

[This thread was kind of meant for me. ] It was another simple day in the land of Hi no Kuni. The sun shone brightly, a gentle breeze brushed in the lively forest, the creatures of the forest scurried around, and the birds flew peacefully in the sky. Yeah, another simple, peaceful, and all around boring day. However, this wasn't something that should be surprising. The land of Hi no Kuni was one of the most powerful countries, which meant that the people had wealth, which kept people happy. This was an unfortunate truth to the chunin known as Kazu. Back in his home village of Chirigakure no Sato the villagers were usually rowdy and hot-headed, which caused for several entertaining situations to arrise. When he moved to Konohagakure these kinds of things were far too scarce for his tastes. It is this reason that he would head out into the forest for several hours to explore and give himself something to do. Today, his exploring would find himself something very interesting - something very interesting indeed. As he jumped from tree to tree, patrolling the areas that he usually traversed he noticed that some of the leaves from some plants had been taken from the landscape - something he only noticed due to being an oinin, and being keen to notice unfamilar things in his surroundings. Stopping he examined the plucked branches were taken he started to track down the individual who had decided to enter his domain. It was then that Kazu decided to activate his Hoshi no Tama barrier, which he kept inactive in areas outside of the village. With the barrier activated the genjutsu would take effect on anyone inside the barrier, including Kazu. However, since he knew these spirits were fake he simply continued to hunt down his prey. The time the genjutsu would take effect dusk would begin to settle in the area. As Maiha continued through the forest the spirits would suddenly begin to appear behind her, keeping out of her line of vision. That was until one of these said spirits started to cross Maiha's path, only to stop and apparently look at her before continuing along its way. After that more of these spirits would make themselves seen to the young woman, one even floating right through her chest.

(Its an invite thread. You are suppose to ask by PM before posting. It's kinda rude.)
A shiver rand down the length of her spine, the feeling of being followed lingered on her skin. When the unusual sight of the genjutsu's effects, unknown to her, began taking effect Maiha bit down on her lip, hard, to hold back startled squeak. Maiha was never one for ghost stories or realities. There were times when her two teamates would talk about the cemetry down the roaf from the village and how the spirits would dance on a full moon. She even remember one time on a winding dark evening and having to walk past the cemetry, or more like sprint past it. When the ghost phased through her chest a high pitched squeak escaped her throat and she fell back onto her ass. "What the fuck is this!" She whined to herself as she got up in a hurry and shot up into the tree above, gaining hieght quickly before stopping at high branch to calm her racing heart. Yes Maiha was easily freaked out but she usually made up for it later.

As Kazu continued to make his way through the forest, looking at the places where the flowers and plants had been picked he simply ignored the ghosts that were floating around. Some went through him, others just passed along his path. He even saw that two spirits were seemingly fighting each other, which he thought was extremely odd, but at the same time he didn't really care. The only thing that he was hoping for was for this genjutsu to lead him in the exact location of his target, and that is exactly what it did.
The moment that Maiha let out her scream of terror Kazu looked over in that direction, and began to use his Kaisoku technique to get their even faster. By the time that she had ascended into the tree, Kazu could already get a visual on her. A smirk formed as he got an idea of how to mess with the female intruder. So, by activating the Nachakuriku along side the Kaisoku he movements were for the most part unheard. Stopping on a branch just above her Kazu channeled the chakra to his feet to allow him to suspend over her, and then preformed a henge on himself to allow him to take the appearance of a zombified version of himself. Canceling the chakra that allow him to stick to the branch he twisted in mid-air, and landed next to Maiha. "Boo," was all that would come from his skeletal mouth as he looked forward, not bothering to face her. Then after a moment he slowly turned his head to face her with an eerie smile present on his skeletal face. "Nice night, don't you think?" he asked, his voice shaky and two spirits floated next to him.

When he dropped out of virtually nowhere coming from Maiha's perspective, She let out a small cry of fright, almost loosing her balance, before slapping one of her delicate hands over her lips. She blinked several times letting the sight register in her mind before her hand slowly fell from her mouth and her stunned expresion was replaced with a very irritated look. "I can't believe I fell for such a dirty trick," she muttered more so to herself. She knew was under some sort of jutsu because all this seemed very off, but to her knowledge of how it worked was beyond her. Her bright emerald eyes narrowed sharply on the stranger and Without a second thought she raised her hand with a swift movement to slap him in the face, even as zombiefied looking as it was.

Hearing her cry of fright after his sudden, and rather creepy appearance he restrained from busting out laughing. The pure look of fear in her eyes as she covered her mouth was absolutely priceless. He would give anything to see that look again, but alas it would fade after a moment or two. Her stunned and frightened expression had been replaced by an irritated look, which actually caused Kazu to laugh out loud as she muttered something to herself.
However, his laughing would come to an abrupt end when he would feel her soft hand slam into his cheek - slapping him out of the henge, and back to his normal self. After getting hit his face was tilted to the side some, and a blank expression appeared. Blinking a few times to register what had just happened he touched his red cheek lightly only to wince from the stinging pain. Looking at the female before him with a confused look he noticed the glare that she was giving him, and so he would give her a slight glare of his own. "What the hell was that!?" he asked, clearly annoyed by the fact that he had just been slapped - no matter how justified she may have been.

Maiha blinked when his true appearance replaced the digusting zombie one. A barely noticeable blush tinted her cheeks but it vanished as soon as it appeared when he glared back at her. Her glare vanished though a dry look was given to the man before her, "That would be a slap," she said defiantly with a shrug and dropped down to a few lower branches and landing softly on the ground below. It was slightly unusual for the blonde haired kunoichi to simply turn her back on a shinobi with unerveing jutsu, but she just did. A small shiver ran down her spine again at just the memory of the event that she just expirienced. She shook her head and leaned against a tree trunk letting her eyes slide shut to regain some sense to her mind. Her senses were a little shaken and her awareness had dropped slightly from the event leaving her slightly vulnerable.

When he turned back to his true form Kazu could have sworn that he saw her blush a little, but due to the darkness it was hard to say since it vanished so quickly. As she told him it was a slap and descended from the tree Kazu growled slightly to himself. It wasn't that he was mad that she had slapped him, no, he was pretty sure that he deserved it for his little prank. Though what he was really mad at was that he was about to let a pretty girl just walk away. So, a moment or two after she jumped out of the tree Kazu did the same - landing without making a sound.
He walked over to the blonde haired girl, who had her eyes closed and her head against a tree. Stopping a few feet away from her Kazu looked around at the spirits that were floating around aimlessly in the forest. Shrugging slightly he deactivated the barrier, and slowly the spirits faded away one by one. "Hey, for what it's worth...I'm sorry," he said with a genuine smile as his hand started to extend towards her rear, almost on its own. Realizing this Kazu stopped himself, figuring that he'd get another chance later if he just played his cards right.

A soft sigh escaped her lips and she finally glanced at him after a few minutes, "Apology accepted," she stated though there was still mistrust in her eyes. "To put it simply and in general, I am not one for ghost stories you could say," she commented truthfully as she pushed herself off the tree. "I'm Nanami Maiha," She introduced herself with a slight bow, polite as she was taught to be, she decided where she was from would be told later on since clearly she did where her headband. She glanced around, noticing the eerie spirits had vanished making her sigh in relief. The sun had vanished commpletely now, leaving everything in darkness. "I'll guess I'll have to finish my search in the morning; it's pointless to continue without light," she muttered to herself as she figured out her options at this point.

The smile remained on Kazu's face as she sighed and turned around to accept his apology. When she told him that she wasn't a real fan of ghost stories and introduced herself Kazu nodded his head. "Well, the ghosts were only created because you entered into my territory," Kazu explained to her, pointing at the last fading ghost. "It's a barrier type genjutsu. You enter into the barrier, the genjutsu activates," he explained further, and leaned against a nearby tree. "As for me, the name is Kazu. Minami Kazuma."
As she straightened out from bowing Kazu examined her over. She didn't have a headband, which made it difficult to tell where she was from. Though, that also could mean that she wasn't a kunoichi, but he wasn't going to let his guard down against her. Looking up he could see the moon illuminating the forest accompanied by the countless stars that blanketed the night sky. It really was a beautiful night. "So what brings an attractive young woman such as yourself out in the forest so late? Live nearby or something?" he asked, curious as to what she was collecting.

"I see," she said thoughtfully as the ghost vanished, "Though... it's still an unerving jutsu," she stated glancing to him. When he asked why she might out so late at night, ignoring the little word 'attractive,' she smiled, "No, actually I am miles from home. I was sent by my superiors to see if a little rumor was true. A small plant is said to help treat the deadlier sicknesses," she answered, explaining her situation, "Where I am from the plants are completely different and don't have the same properties," she added as she leaned back up against the tree.

As he awaited the answer to his question Kazu crossed his arms as he continued to lean on the tree. So far, the only thing that he knew about her was her name. Though, even that could be fake - one could never be sure in the world of the shinobi. Seeing her smile made him smile a little too, and he listened to her as she explained her situation to him. When she finished explaining everything to him he simply nodded, signifying that he understood.
The information that she gave him was very vague. The name of her home wasn't given, she didn't give any leads on her superiors, and she still didn't specify what she was here for. Despite all of that, it was still a solid answer that would make him seem too nosey if he asked her to explain it any further. Nevertheless, Kazu was interested in her, so he would stick around for a little bit until he found out everything he wanted to know. "Nanami-san...," he said, deciding to be polite by using her family name to address her. "If you wouldn't mind I would like to assist you on your search. I am more familiar with this area, and would make an excellent guide for you," Kazu told her, and looked around for a moment. "In fact, there is a small stream nearby that would be good to set up a good camp."

Maiha was silent for a moment before smiling and nodding, "I suppose... so long as you don't use that jutsu on me again," she stated. "The stream might be a better places to search anyway," she added as she pushed herself off the tree she was leaning against. Her blue beads glimered lightly against the little light the seeped through the trees as she stretched a placed a hand tenderly on her hip. "Besides, I'm pretty sure you will want to know a little more about me," she teased lightly with a wink, something she did on the occasion.

She agreed. Now he was at least one step closer in achieving his goal, which oddly enough wasn't perverted this time. Chuckling when she said that he couldn't use his genjutsu anymore he nodded. "Yes, yes. I won't use that jutsu anymore," he said as he pushed himself up off of the tree he was leaning against, and stretched his arms out a little. The slight glimmer of her beads caught his eye for a second, but he simply shook it off - deciding to stay focused on the task at hand.
When she started to speak again, saying that she was sure he wanted to know more about her he smirk after seeing her wink. "Aye...Nanami-san can read me like a book," he said with a playful sigh. "Let's get moving while there is still some light to see," Kazu said as he jumped up into a tree. "Try to keep up, now," he said as he kicked off the branch - landing on another tree. Moving from tree to tree he would occasionally look back to make sure that he wasn't moving too fast.
