That really was a stupid mistake that Shikome had that night. Had she signed that contract and joined into the Covenant then all her and Izumida's problems would have been a thing of the past. The only thing that turning her back on the offer would do was bring that much more strife into their lives. See, despite being an overbearing bastard, Raigyo was a man of his word. So when he told her that he'd make her regret it...
He was serious.
Stationed on top of a rooftop near the shinobi academy was a red haired man. He had pair of binoculars in one hand and a radio in the other he as he casually monitored the academy. His attention shifted from kid to kid as he attempted to single out his target -- Izumida. Yeah, that's right. Raigyo was going to drag her little brother into this.
"Oi, oi!!
[/b] Sei-chan, I think I see him," the red haired thug called out into radio. A big ol' grin stretched across his face as he zoomed in onto the white haired kid. "He's just stepping out of the building now. Should I jump him?" "Gan...," Sei's voice spoke through the radio, a hint of aggitation evident in his words. "Relax. Just keep an eye on the brat and wait for Raigyo's orders," the blonde man continued as he looked at the academy from his position at a nearby diner. "But this is boooooring~" the younger of the two men whined. "Why can't we just snatch the kid now?" "Because you two value your lives," a third voice barked through the radio. The eyes of both Sei and Gan widened at sound of the voice, and were left almost speechless. "R-Raigyo-san..." "Save it. I'm in position at their house now. Keep me updated on his location and who he's with," and with that Raigyo cut off his transmission. Leaning on the side of their apartment building he let out an annoyed sigh. This was gonna be a long day. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

Izumida grinned widely as he exited the Academy. His last day as an Academy Student. Ever. This was the best day of his life so far, the day he became a Genin. Though he wasn't really that into Shinobi things, it was still a point of pride for him. He had graduated a couple of years early, and though it was mostly because they had nothing else to teach him (and not about skill), he still felt extremely happy. He was grinning! Izumida would never do such a thing. When Shikome picked him up, they were going to go out to eat, and then they were gonna go to the movies or park or something. It was gonna be a really great day.
The only off thing was the strange shadow the roof of the school took. It was normally a pretty even square, yet there was a growth at the edge. There really wasn't anything the growth could be, other than a person. It was moving a bit too much to be anything else. Why were there people on the roof? Though he could have easily drawn the conclusion if he knew that Raigyo was after them, he didn't, and so he just chalked up the person (or people) on the roof to construction or something. It really wasn't worth all the effort to turn around and look up, so he just continued to observe the growth on the shadow on the ground in front of him.
He sat down on the sidewalk and waited, happily looking both ways for Shikome. She should be there any minute...

Today was the day.
It was Friday. The day of the academy exams. The day after Thursday. Two days since she'd met with Raigyo...
As she walked briskly down the chilly streets of Kiri, hands tucked securely in her hoodie, her mind couldn't help but wander back to their exchange of words.
"Shikome!!" Raigyo barked as he pounded his fist on the table. His voice was stern and his vexation was clear. "If you walk out that door...," he started before his lips parted into an almost demented smirk. Just the thought of the options that'd unfold before him almost made him wish she'd just up and leave right now. "It'll be the biggest mistake of your life," he continued as he arose from his chair and started to walk towards her. "One I'll personally make sure you'll come to regret."
"You think you can make me regret it, huh?" The young woman walked up to him as he walked up to her. She stood closely, pressing her chest to his, the way fighters did when they sized each other up before a match. It had been a long while since she'd actually been that close to him -- since she'd had that much body contact with him. A part of her raw, primal fight instinct surged. Their chemistry was volatile, like mixing acids and bases. As her hand traced up his arm and then to his cheek, she smiled. She then stood on her toes and whispered gently in his ear, her lip bushing lightly against it. "I dare you to try."
Then, without another word, Shikome headed back out the door as she had done before, chucking the deuces in the air has she did.
As the scene replayed over and over in her psyche, she couldn't shake it. What in the hell was she thinking? Was she trying to be cool or something? Raigyo was not one to give up so easily, which had her practically sleepless to two nights. Luckily, she'd gotten a new baby sitter who was more than qualified to protect him. But how long could she solicit Hanz's help? He might start charging her for his services.
She tossed on her hood as she hit the corner, walking onto the path that lead to the Academy, her eyes landing right on Izumida.
"Heeeey, Short Man!" She called out, remembering what mattered most to her in life. The only family she had left. "How'd you do? You a full time shinobi now?" Shikome smiled and put her hand on his head gently.

As Gan continued to observe from on top of the roof his hand repeatedly balled into a fist and released itself. He wasn't the type of person to just sit around and wait for stuff to happen. Gan was the kind of guy that just ran head first into things, and got shit done. Tactics? Who needed them. Plans? Those were for chumps. All he needed was his two good ol' fists, and he was set. Tapping his foot he impatiently watched as Izumida walked to the sidewalk. An eyebrow raised as a raven haired beauty walked over to the brat and patted him on the head.
"Ohohoho...," Gan chuckled as a sly grin crossed his face. 'Sei-chan, check it out. The brat's got a girlfriend."
"That's his sister moron," Sei replied with an aggrivated sigh. "Look, they'll be heading this way soon So maintain radio silence."
"Yeah, yeah..."

Izumida hugged his sister as soon as she knelt down. He was so happy. Reaching into his pocket, he brandished his new Kirigakure hitai-ate. They were gonna go out to eat at his favorite restaurant later, the Rosadoru Corabu. This was going to be the best day ever.

Shikome took his hitai-ate and held it up so it gleamed in the autumn afternoon sunlight. "Whoooaaa, niiice." She was truly proud of him. If their dad could have seen this, he would have been beaming. And if their mom could have seen it, she would have been crying. Either way, she had to be mom and dad today.
"So, where do you wanna wear it? You know you can put it where ever you want," she began, standing back up and stretching it out. "I can even stitch it into your flack jacket, or something. The possibilities are endless." she grabbed Izumida by his hand and began to walk down the street to the main market district.
Something was bothering her, though, and Izumida would probably be able to tell. She never held his hand for anything. Ever. She didn't believe in babying him, but she did believe whole heartedly in protecting him with her life. This unconscious gesture wasn't noticed immediately, but after the first few steps, she realized what she was doing.
"Oh, sorry shortman." She said, letting go and rubbing the back of her arm, hitai ate still in her hand. "Here. This is yours, and I'm toting it around like I just graduated." Shikome let out a nervous laugh, then continued on their path to celebration.

"Is there anything else I can help you with, sir?" a young woman asked as she approached Sei at his table. She carried a small clipboard with her, and was wearing a waitress outfit.
"Ah...," Sei responded as he offered her a smile. Glancing down at the menu he eyed through a few things before looking back at her. "Some green tea and some chanpurū1 would be nice," he said as he slid the menu to her.
"I'll have the chef get to it right away," she said with a nod and jotted down the order and took the menu. Sei huffed lightly as he watched her head away toward the counter to place his order.
"Ora! Sei-chan!! Stop flirting with the waitresses and do your job," Gan barked through the radio. "They're heading your way!"
With a frustrated sigh Sei looked down at his radio before finally picking it up. "I could have sworn I told you to maintain radio silence. You yelling into the radio is not what I call radio silence," he said irritably to his partner. "Besides, placing an order is hardly flirting. At least...not by my standard. Then again, I forgot that you were the desperate type..."
"W-what's that supp--!!"
Before Gan could finish his sentence Sei turned off his radio, and slipped it back into his pocket. His targets would be here soon enough. He didn't need that bafoon messing things up for him. Especially not when Raigyo was monitoring.

Izumida's eyes widened when she took his hand. The last time he remembered her doing that was when she led him to their couch, to tell him their parents had skipped out on them. Was something up? No...she may have just been really happy. That was probably it.
Taking his new hitai-ate, Izumida put it in his pocket. "I do not know where I'm going to wear it. I will figure it out later, though." he said, looking up at her.
A couple of minutes later, the two of them arrived at the Rosadoru Corabu. The same waitress who had just taken an order for some chanpurū would seat them. Izumida settled in, the back of his seat being the border to the back of Sei's. Ordering some Doctoru Pepperu, Izumida picked up the menu and began scanning it for things that looked good.

As they were seated by the woman, Shikome felt an uneasiness in the pit of her stomach. Almost like something was about to happen. She had been known to have an anxiety attack or two back in the day, and this was starting to feel like it, but she was deathly calm. It was as if whatever it was bothering her, she knew it couldn't hurt her. There was a firm resolution of that fact.
Shikome opened the menu and fingered through it. "I'll just have some water. With lemon." She stated, looking at the prices in the menu. She didn't have much moolah to spend, by all she had she would spend on Izumida today. It was his special day. "Can I get a Hibachi Chicken Junior?" she said, handing the lady her menu. Yes, she was ordering off the kids menu. She and Izumida always did.
"And I already knows what he wants. His favorite. Hibachi Shrimp & Steak Junior, please."
The waitress took their menus and bowed, then headed to the back. "So, now," Shikome began. "Tell me all about the exams. What did they make you guys do this year?" Her voice and face and body were all there, but her mind was wandering. She was trying to stay excited.
"Get it together, Shi-chan. Raigyo isn't gonna do anything drastic. The Boss won't allow it."

As the two entered into the diner Sei's azure eyes glanced in their direction. A faint smirk threatened to creep onto his face, but he repressed the urge. He, unlike his partner, knew how to use self-control. Everything was going according to Raigyo's plan. It was almost creepy how well he knew her. Leaning back in his booth Sei allowed himself to get even more comfortable. When the two of them walked past him, and even took a seat behind him the smirk threatened to emerge once more. Though, he allowed himself to remain calm. This was a priceless opportunity that he was given.
And he wasn't going to mess this up.

Izumida smiled as his sister ordered his favorite dish for him. It was the most expensive meal on the menu, and it was only saved for the specialest of special occasions. This day was going so great.
Sipping on his Doctoru Pepperu, Izumida went into detail about the exams. "First, they made us take a written test. It was not very hard, just simple methods and some Chakra Theory. I got a 100 on it. It was the best grade in the class." he smiled, hoping his sister would be proud. "And then we had to do some simple jutsu. I did really well there too, since you taught me so much stuff. I kind of messed up on the Henge, but my Bunshin was perfect."
Unfortunately, throughout the telling of his story, Izumida sipped a bit too much Doctoru Pepperu. "I will be right back." he said, getting up and sliding out of his booth. He walked past a rather sinister looking man and slipped into the bathroom.

Shikome nodded and, seeing as how the waitress had apparently already brought back their drinks, she picked up the two extra lemon wedges in the tiny bowl beside her drink, and began squeezing and mixing all three together in her water. She then reached for a couple of packets of sugar and began to pour them in the cup.
"Oh! 100! I expected nothing less of you, shortman," she managed to get out before Izumida headed to the bathroom. Shikome watched him walk all the way to the back, and as she did, the man in the booth behind them caught her eye. He looked so familiar, but she couldn't put her finger on it. Her guard now up, she quickly looked away and began sipping her makeshift lemonade mixture as if nothing was wrong.
Something was up. She knew her gut hadn't been lying to her. But maybe she was jumping to conclusions...
...no matter. She'd rather have jumped-to conclusions than to be caught completely off guard.
"Fuck. Not today. Today of all days..."

The waitress returned with a large tray carrying the chanpurū and a small kettle of green tea. As she placed the dishes infront of him Sei took the time to slyly catch a glance at her bosom. Smiling up at her he simply shook his head when she asked if he needed or wanted anything else. Pouring some of the tea into a cup he watched as the steam rose up before dissipating. He then lifted the lid off of his chanpurū and watched the steam rise once more. This looked to be a very promising meal. He'd get to hear all about Izumida's little day and the playful banter between the siblings, and he'd have one of his favorite meals. Joy.
He briefly watched as Izumida walked away from the table. Sei made no sudden movements or showed any sign of concern. He knew that the brat wasn't going to be going anywhere. His sister was still behind him, and from what Raigyo said the little runt was practically a part of her shadow. So as long as the sister was still around, all was well.

Fuck this.
She wasn't about to wait around while something happened to her and her brother. The guy in the booth was too familiar for her to just ignore that observation. Was she being paranoid? Maybe. It would have made her feel a little better to just change venues. They'd take their food to go, head back to the apartment, and play a board game or something. She'd make a mini party out of it. Heck, maybe she'd even invite Hanz over (more for her benefit than Izumida's). Either way, anything was better than being a sitting duck.
That meeting had put her too far on the edge.
Before Izumida could come back, she silently signaled for the waitress to come over to the table. "Yes, uhm...can we get all of this to go?" she inquired of the woman. She wanted to do it in the most subtle way possible. "I have a bunch of stuff planned for my little brother today, and we're actually behind schedule. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you."
"Oh, no problem! We'll wrap it up to-go and you can just pay at the counter," the woman responded, a genuine grin adorning her face.
"I 'preciate it." Shikome sipped on the last of her sugared lemon water and then sat her glass next to Izumida's empty one. Boy, that kid could drink. She would just get him another one to go with the meal. Sliding from the booth, she plucked the straw from the drink and began chewing on it, then stood and headed to the front counter behind the lady.

So much for a nice enjoyable meal.
Glancing up from his chanpurū as he heard Shikome's little chat with the waitress. He might not have even noticed had the waitress not been in such a perky mood. Groaning slightly to himself as he watched the raven haired demon walk to the front counter he reached into his pocket. Switching on the radio he leaned forward and tuned into Raigyo's frequency.
"Raigyo-san," he spoke softly into the radio. Keeping his eyes on Shikome for the moment he tried to send out his message as subtly as he could. "I think the girl's onto us. She just suddenly asked for the check and is preparing to leave."
There would be a moment of silence as Sei placed the radio down into his lap. Suddenly, he would hear a huff come from the radio, but made no motion to get the device.
"Good, I was getting tired of waiting around," he said before taking a sip from a glass of water. "I'll tell Gan to begin tailing them as soon as they leave. You wait five minutes after they leave the diner and begin after them too. I'll remain here, and if they deviate from my plan contact me," with that Raigyo cut the transmission and placed his glass of water onto the counter.
Walking over to the couch he plopped down on the couch. Looking around the room he spotted a few toys here and there. The place was a lot smaller than he remembered. Then again, how long had it been since he was last welcomed into this place? A month? Two months? Years? He didn't even know anymore. Looking around he spotted a picture of Shikome and Izumida posing together. "I really thought you were smarter than this," he spoke idly to himself as he focused on Shikome.
